Legal Situation:	Prostitution Status: Prostitution is legal for both parties; pimping, brothels and live sex shows are illegal. Beginning 1/1/1999, paying for or offering to pay for sex will be illegal, punishable by a fine (about $1000 - $2000) or at most 6 months in prison. Sweden is the only country which outlaws the buying but not the selling of sex. The age of consent: 15.
