Phoenix Page 2

I was ripped off twice my last trip to Phoenix and would like to avoid
similar situations this time around.

Basically I picked a random ad from the list of escort services listed
in the Yellow Pages and called for a lady to visit me. Both times it
was expensive ($200+) and I found out after I had paid (non-refundable
with a burly driver around the corner) that the initial fee was for a
fully clothed adnce only. It was $50 for them to remove their top,
$100 for the bottom. I choked when I heard the prics and they
wouldn't answer how much more for partial- or full-service.

I admit I'm stupid for trying it twice, but I've learned my lesson.

Subject: Phoenix: Watch out for Trish Date: Fri, 14 Jun 1996 15:25:14 UTC Just to give you some further info on the state of affairs in Phoenix, AZ. I responded to an ad in the Beat, a local free newspaper, for a "full service" escort named Trish. She was a 7-8 with dark permed hair, thin with small-medium well-shaped breasts with small perky nipples. I had noted her picture in several different ads with different phone numbers in several issues of the paper. The ad and several others using the same phone number indicated that she was an independent with no driver and that there was a flat fee of $150. Upon her arrival, she immediately demanded the $150 up front which she took back out to her car. Upon returning she invited me to get comfortable and said we would not begin without a "tip". I pointed out to her that I had already given her quite a bit of money and she said that she gets none of that since it goes to her service. A little taken back but already committed, I gave her an additional $50. She proceeded into the bathroom and came out dressed in a not very revealing two piece bathing suit and proceeded to dance over me on the bed. This went on for only a few minutes when I asked if she would remove more clothing. She said not without an additional tip. I was quite surprised and asked "how much more"? She said depending on what I wanted. I said "how about everything" and she responded "that will cost $500". Shocked I said "I'd expect sex for that much!" Whereupon she became indignant and said she was not a prostitute and was only an "escort". Her response was quite smooth and polished and obviously rehearsed. I pointed out to her the discrepancies between her ads and her behavior and asked her what she though "full service" and "flat fee" meant. She repeated that she was not a prostitute, however, I noted that she is good at screwing people. She said that meant that that was the fee and that it didn't change. I said she had already gotten enough of my money for nothing and that I wouldn't pay anything more. She obviously felt a little guilty since she offered to let me take her to dinner sometime (like I would waste any more money on her) and give me a back rub. I agreed to accept the back rub which lasted about 3 minutes and she got up and dressed (in the bathroom) and left. I chalk it up as a $200 learning experience.
Subject: Lisa, a Phoenix review Date: Sun, 09 Jun 1996 17:55:05 GMT A Phoenix review. Called Lisa Thursday night, advertised in The Beat. Flat rate ($115). More than you can handle, no games. Yeah right, think again. Lisa is very attractive, that's about all you can say nice. The flat rate covers the honor of her presence, nothing more except to look at her in some not too revealing lingerie. To get comfortable, (implying nude) would cost an additional $100, anything else would cost more. Though she made it very clear that nothing illegal would happen. My advice, run don't walk to anyone else. Lisa is clearly a rip off. Albeit an attractive one. Oh well one lives and learns.
Subject: Report on Phoenix ripoffs Date: Wed, 18 Sep 1996 18:40:14 +0200 (MET DST) DEALING WITH RIPOFFS IN PHOENIX This report describes a typical ripoff in Phoenix and proposes a method for protecting yourself from the very prevalent ripoffs in Phoenix. My personal estimate is that between 75% and 90% of the ads for escorts in The Beat (local sex rag) are ripoffs. I propose a method of finding the ones that are not, without losing your shirt. And please report your findings! Here is a typical ripoff: I called KIMBERLY, Exotic Asian Escort/Model, 302-5166. I asked "Are you a full service escort?" She said "Yes." I asked "How much do you charge?" She said "150 per hour." I asked "Does that charge include all services, and no additional money would be asked for?" and made it very clear that I would pay no more than the agreed upon price up front. She said "Yes, no problem." All her answers were lies. She gave no indication that she was associated with any agency. She confirmed my name by calling back the motel where I was staying and asked for me by name. After she arrived and collected the $150 from me, she handed me a form to sign, which is reproduced below. She placed the following license number (presumably hers) on the form: 9410154. I have no real objection to the form per se. After all, it protects the agency. However, it is obvious why the form was presented *after* payment was collected. Kimberly proceeded to strip to a bikini, and would do no more than that, but immediately said she would do more for additional tips. I reminded her of our agreement on the phone but of course this made no difference. My previous experience told me that there was no use throwing good money after bad. For $150, she provided far less service than you can get for $5 at any strip club. I later called the agency on the form below to complain that she had lied to me about not asking for additional money. The agency informed me that she did not work for them. The form she gave me is reproduced here: SHEER ECSTACY 3011 W. Whitton, Phx., AZ 85017 420-9969 1. Paradise Moments is a model referral agency. The client agrees to notify Paradise moments promptly in the event the model violates any of the provisions of this agreement. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT AND AGREE TO ITS TERMS. Kimberly is very typical of the Phoenix ripoff girls. Paradise Moments runs a full-page ad for escorts at $100 per hour. Although they told me that Kimberly does not work for them, I would still advise staying away. You certainly won't get full service for your $100. It goes without saying that the law encourages this sort of ripoff. You certainly can't complain to the police, and they are probably glad that customers are getting ripped off because the services they are actually seeking are illegal. Making prostitution illegal creates a ready market for this sort of ripoff. You can hardly blame the girls, even, for taking advantage of such an easy way to make money. The puritanical laws in this country encourage it. But how can you protect yourself? I can only think of one way to do it, and that is to simply refuse to make payment until after services are delivered (you should place your money on the table so she will know that you have it). At one stroke, this will eliminate 100% of the ripoffs. Even if you lose 50% of the honest escorts, you will still find the other 50%! I don't think this should scare off too many of the honest ones. After all, you can explain that her risk of getting ripped off is very low (the honest ones will know that anyway), whereas your risk of getting ripped off is extremely high in the Phoenix market (she will know that too). A word of advice. Make a clear decision that you are not going to pay in advance, no matter what. Don't give in to any sweet talk, and if she's gorgeous don't let your hormones rule. If you pay in advance your money will be gone and you will get nothing for it. Guaranteed. If she asks for a cancellation fee, point out that she is the one who is canceling. Unfortunately, this screening method is time consuming and my living situation rarely allows me the chance to try it. But there are some honest, good, and reasonably priced escorts out there. I have reported on some of them (all I know of) and these reports can be found in the World Sex Guide. I hope others will use this technique and report their results here. Let us know who turns you down, too, so we will know who else to stay away from. Good hunting!

Subject: {ASP} Phoenix Ripoffs Date: Mon, 17 Feb 1997 12:10:49 -0800 Well, I've now had 2 bad experiences in the Phoenix, AZ area. Before this, I was always successful. Anyway, don't believe the "flat" fee BS. Once there, the price can escalate up to an additional $300 for full service. My suggestion for us guys who like a little fun outside the home, is refuse payment until after you have received you full treatment. By the way, the place that was a ripoff in Phoenix was called Athena, phone # 224-2494. So stay away from them. If anyone else has the names of ripoffs, let's start sharing them so we can protect ourselves.
Subject: Phoenix Outcall...WARNING! Date: 26 Feb 1997 03:44:25 GMT If you're in Phoenix and want some temporary company, FORGET IT! At least, that's my opinion. There's simply too many ripoffs in this city...kind of like Las Vegas. There's a magazine called the Beat which as great advertisements, but alas, they're just going to rip you off. Goes something like this: Lady comes over...talks a great gig...gets money upfront (per usual)...asks you to get comfortable...takes off dress...then offers to dance, but nothing else without more money. Yea, she even said she'd wait for me to run out to the ATM...right! Leave her in my hotel room with my stuff...FAT CHANCE. Well, I got took (for a little) and didn't get what I wanted...she got pissed because she didn't get me out of the room and didn't get more money...then she started saying that I solicted her, so she stormed off in a huff.... Don't do it. Or if you do, let them know you're not parting with ANY MONEY until afterwards. If they don't like that...move onto somebody else. What IS the world coming to ;-)
Date: Mon, 29 Dec 1997 10:09:09 -0700 Subject: ripped off hi i've owned one of the largest escort services in az, for more than three years now and i can tell you that there is no place that has as many ripoffs as az, but i can also give the key to NOT being ripped off--- here it is !!!!!!!!!!!!ESCORTS WORK FOR TIPS!!!!!! THIS IS THE #1 RULE WHEN LOOKING FOR AN ESCORT, ASK THE PERSON ON THE PHONE "WHAT ABOUT TIPS?" IF THEY RESPOND "NOT REGUIRED, BUT APPRECIATED" HANG UP!! IF THEY SAY "NOT REQUIRED" HANG UP!!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BARGIN, YOU'LL GET RIPPED OFF, NO TWO WAYS ABOUT IT!! HER'ES THE TYPICAL SCAM; THE AD SAYS " FULL SERVICE" NO TIPPING, NO DRIVERS, NOT AN AGENCY, THE OPERATOR SAYS " NO TIPPING, UNLIMITED TIME, NO DRIVER, FULL SERVICE FOR THE AGENCY FEE, WHAT REALLY HAPPENS; SHE ARRIVES, TAKES FEE, HAND TO DRIVER, THEN TELL YOU ABOUT TIPS, DONT TIP AND SHE'LL LEAVE WITH THE FEE IN 10 MIN, DO TIP AND AS SOON AS YOU WANT WHAT YOU PAID FOR SHE'LL SCREAM THAT YOU'VE JUST PROPPED HERE FOR SEX AND SHE'S LEAVING, TRY TO STOP HER AND YOU'LL HAVE HER DRIVER TO DEAL WITH, {THE LIKE TO MACE YOU, WATCH OUT} ARIZONA HAS STRICT LAWS REGARDING ESCORTS, ANY AD YOU SEE IS AN AGENCY 99% OF THE TIME, MOST TRY TO LOOK LIKE INDEPENDANTS, LOOK FOR A LIC# IN SMALL PRINT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE AD--- THIS IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD IF YOU'VE BEEN RIPPED OFF, CALL THE CITY OF PHX TAX AND LICENES, THE ESCORT OWNERS WHOLE LIFE IS PUBLIC RECORD, OFFICE ADDRESS, HOME ADDRESS, TEL # , EVERTHING YOU NEED TO GET A LITTLE PAYBACK!!!!!!! s BUT THE BEST WAY NOT TO GET RIPPED OFF IS TO USE COMMON SENE, IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS!!! AND REMEMBER, THER ARE HONEST AGENCYS, YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT ???? TO ASK
Date: Fri, 2 Jan 1998 16:22:24 EST Subject: Phoenix Ripoffs Update Despite reading the posts in World Sex Guide, I thought I could get through the nonsense and find a full service escort in Phoenix. Picked up The Beat and found numerous listings for escorts. Many had city of Phoenix license numbers at bottom of ad or some legal sounding name at bottom of ad. These are most likely "agencies." Note that many ads claim "No Driver" or "Not an Agency" and will tell you so over the phone. I selected one with a physical description for a person named Summer. Called and made the arrangements - I asked her to describe herself, it differed from what was in the ad (first clue). She showed up, obviously not close to the person described in the ad, but attractive and immediately asked for $150 agency fee (second clue), and then requested a tip before she would disrobe (third clue). Her tip paid for only removing her bra. Removing additional clothing would be another tip, touching (non erotic) was another tip, permitting me to touch her was another tip, ad naseum. When I told her she could go, she said the only intimate contact she had engaged in over the 6 months she had been doing this cost the client $2,000. She had also told me that she had visited 3 other clients that night, and the average amount of time she spends is 10 - 15 minutes. I assume most tolerate the rip-off for about that amount of time and after shelling out a couple of hunderd bucks realize they have already been serviced. She also says that she is aware of about 25 such agencies in the Phoenix area all of which perform in a similar fashion. My advise to those seeking adult entertainment in the Valley of the Sun is to go to the topless lounges - great looking women, full bars, $ 5 table dances (non touching). Sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
