Legal Situation: |
Prostitution Status: Every bigger city has a certain part ("zona roja") where prostitution is allowed. It is also allowed on private property if the owner approves. Prostitutes have to be registered and have to pay for and receive weekly health checks and have to carry a health card to prove it. There is a more complete account of the legal situation available.
The age of consent: 18. Special practica. The hardest pornography openly available is on the level of Hustler/Penthouse. Video rental stores carry porn movies, but the bigger ones don't show the boxes, you have to ask. |

Magazines with information: Nothing in Mexico that I know of, but there's a good book describing the Tijuana scene available in San Diego adult bookstores. It is called "Red Lights of Baja México". Also, there's an adult video "Dick and Jane go to Mexico" featuring the Tijuana club scene.
