Legal Situation: |
Prostitution Status: Prostitution has been legalized 1992. Pimping and letting out rooms to prostitutes is illegal. The Interior Ministry has issued a plan in 2/96 that prostitutes must be registered as private entrepreneurs; local governments will issue the licenses and prostitutes will have to carry a valid certificate of health. In 10/97, the interior minister introduced a bill to ban roadside prostitution.
The age of consent: Regular girl = 14, Sex worker = 18 Note: It is illegal to solicit anyone under 18. |

Magazines with information: In the daily newspaper "Expressz" under the headline "Szexpartnert" you find massage clubs (maszage) and agencies offering in- and outcall, mostly in Budapest.
