Legal Situation:	Prostitution Status: Prostitution itself is legal, but several surrounding activities are not. Brothels were outlawed in 1956, but they live on in the form of "Clubs"; there are also "Bares Americanos" which usually require that you buy several expensive drinks for the lady before business is discussed. The age of consent: 16. (Has it changed to 14 recently?) Pornography is sold openly in most book stands; zoophily and S/M material is legal like in the Netherlands.
